Can we have an open and honest discussion, was Fantastic 4 (2015) a bad film? Let’s disregard the problems from production and if you’re a comic book fanatic just focus on the film itself. Yes the film took a long time to build, but the action/fighting scenes were kinda cool 🥴. That’s usually what drives moviegoers to watch superhero movies... right?
So why does it get so much hate? Ok, you can tell that some scenes were later added. And some scenes were edited/cut and the story or scenes made little sense🤨. In my opinion it did not have a natural flow and it ran longer than needed. Almost as if the film should have been two parts and this was meant to be part one, but didn’t have enough action. So they added the Dr. Doom return, instead of showing off the Fantastic 4 powers and their training missions. But c’mon it wasn’t that bad.
Directed by Josh Trank, who previously directed Chronicle (2011), which had an overall positive reaction, something went wrong here. I stated before I loved Chronicle and believe we deserve a sequel (Cloverfield made at least three, that's all I'm saying), so maybe less is more for Trank. Jordan/Trank team up again, added with Jordan/ Miles Teller chemistry (That Awkward Moment) makes me wonder what direction was the film geared too. I remember the version with Chris Evans and it was more fun and exciting, this version was technical and dark. A fan of Toby Kebbel, would have love to see more of him as Doom, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, their characters were cheated.
With all that said, it is my least favorite film from MBJ🤫. I give it 💚.What were your thoughts? Did you watch it, enjoy it? Maybe it would have a better reception as an animated film.
